The Collegium Center for Faith and Culture was established
in response to the Church's call for "a new evangelization, new
in ardor, methods, and expression." In the face of religious indifference
and unbelief, the purpose of the Collegium Center is to lead people
to a fresh encounter with Jesus Christ. This objective is achieved by
instructing people in Catholic doctrine, nurturing their moral and spiritual
formation, and advancing their human and cultural development. As individuals
grow in Christian maturity, they in turn become a leaven of faith and
hope in the community. Consequently, the Collegium Center will serve
the Church by being a vital source of formation, evangelization and
Christian witness for the benefit of men and women living in the world,
especially the unchurched and uncatechized.
There is an urgent need today for Catholics
to rise to their calling to sanctify the world and imbue it with the
Spirit of Christ. In virtue of their Baptism and Confirmation lay men
and women are called to bring the Gospel to every sector of social,
cultural, and political life. In order to do this, they must understand
and appropriate the truths and values of Christianity. Moreover, they
must practice the Christian virtues so as to be authentic witnesses
of Jesus in the secular domain. The mission of the Collegium Center
for Faith and Culture is to form and prepare Christians to take their
rightful place in the Church's new evangelization.
Specifically, the Collegium Center will
offer:
