INTELLECTUAL FORMATION
-
Imparting a systematic and thorough catechesis that
is intended to shape the mind and touch the heart, leading people to full
Christian maturity. This catechesis will draw upon the works of the Church's
rich theological tradition: ancient, medieval, and modern.
The Collegium Center teaches core Catholic beliefs and values in a contemporary
context. It presents a solid, thorough catechesis drawn from the Church's
rich intellectual tradition, in Sacred Scripture, Church councils, Vatican
documents, Church history and moral teaching. The Collegium pedagogy is
credible, relevant, challenging, intellectually edifying and practical.
The lectures and conferences are presented in a traditional format in
a setting that fosters discussion and dialogue in a spirit of openness,
respect and charity. The goal of these teachings is to lead people to
full Christian maturity. In this catechetical apostolate, the Collegium
Center presents the Catholic faith in all of its inherent beauty and attractiveness,
relying on the power of the truth and the agency of the Holy Spirit to
reach people's hearts.
LITURGICAL FORMATION
-
Leading people to full participation in the Church's
liturgical life.
The Collegium Center emphasizes the sacramental nature of the Church by
offering opportunities for vital religious experiences in prayer and liturgical
worship. In particular, the Collegium Center offers beautiful liturgies
that evoke a full, conscious and active participation in the divine mysteries
that lay behind the Church's sacramental signs. The Collegium Center takes
every measure to enhance the spiritual, communal, musical and aesthetic
qualities of the Mass and other liturgical celebrations.
SPIRITUAL FORMATION
-
Aiding the moral and spiritual development of others,
each according to his own gifts, duties, and state in life.
The Collegium Center also offers an introduction to the Christian life
of prayer, meditation and spirituality in a context that emphasizes specifically
Catholic symbols and traditions. Of special concern is the spiritual and
moral formation of adults of every age, especially in regard to a correct
understanding of human and spousal love. This formation includes lecture
series, directed readings, conferences, seminars and days of recollection.
Sacramental confession and spiritual direction are also part of this program.
As the Christian matures in faith and virtue, he or she gains greater
clarity regarding his or her unique calling and state in life. In this
context the Collegium Center is committed to increasing awareness about
the ordained and consecrated life, and encouraging young people to consider
a vocation to the priesthood or religious life. Full-time lay ministry
is also encouraged. The Collegium's communal nature and positive approach
have already yielded a significant harvest of clerical and religious vocations.
